Hydration and Hair Removal

Believe it or not, the level of hydration in your body can affect the way your skin reacts to all kinds of hair removal including waxing, sugaring, laser and even threading! If you’ve ever thought, “Wow, that hurt more than last time!” or “What’s the deal with this irritation? That’s not what usually happens!” dehydration could be a contributor.

Many things can lead to dehydration; it’s not JUST about drinking water, though we absolutely encourage that as well! Below are a few usual suspects to avoid to help keep your hydration levels maxed for your hair removal treatment:

Hot showers/heaters can drain hydration from your skin – To combat this, you can add some necessary healthy fats/oils to your dry skin (we like to add coconut oil to our smoothies for this!).

Caffeine and alcohol are also usual suspects – You need 32 oz of water for every 8 oz cup of coffee you drink just to replenish the water loss. Even more H20 for adult beverages!

Antibiotics, cold & allergy medicines – Decongestants do a great job of drying up our congestion and also our skin. It’s best to reschedule if you’re feeling a bit under the weather.
