Preparation Tips

During your consultation, it is very important to share your list of medications you routinely take to make sure nothing interferes with your body’s blood clotting ability.

Here is a brief list of things to avoid for a week before your appointment. Please feel free to call one of our Shobha team members if you have any questions at all.

  • Stop taking blood-thinning medications before you get Botox® injections to prevent bleeding and ensure your blood will clot effectively. That means over-the-counter medications like aspirin and ibuprofen are a “no go.”  You can take acetaminophen (Tylenol)
  • Avoid supplements like fish oil, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, multivitamins, green tea, cinnamon, and ginger
  • Some antibiotics can affect the potency of the neurotoxin in Botox®, so avoid scheduling an appointment if you are on a course of antibiotics
  • Don’t drink alcohol for a 1-2 days prior to your appointment
